Continuing the annual tradition, Latinas in Computing organized the Networking Session “Celebrating Latinas in Technical Roles” at Grace Hopper Celebration 2019 in Orlando, FL. The celebration took place in October 2, 2019 at the Hyatt Plaza International Ballroom D and hosted 200 Latinas attending the conference from different countries.

Kety Esquivel, AnitaB.org’s VP of Global Marketing, opened the reception with a warm welcome, followed by Latinas in Computing Co-chairs Ruth Llanos-Vos and Luza Jaramillo who presented community updates and recognized fellow community members.

The following community accomplishments were presented during the event:

  • LATINITY 2019 Costa Rica
  • Launch of South Florida Women in Tech community connecting 150+ South Florida women in tech through “Meet and Greet” events
  • #IamRemarkable workshops for more than 140 attendees in South Florida, Atlanta, Costa Rica and Singapore. The community also arranged training to certify facilitators in South Florida.

The event, sponsored by Amazon, included the networking activity “Marvelous Me” where attendees had the opportunity to interact with each other to build professional connections for life!
