Dr. Blanca Polo worked as a test engineer at Adtech before becoming a full-time instructor at UHM.  She received her bachelor’s degree in management of information systems from the Universidad Regiomontana in Monterrey Mexico. She holds a master’s degree in computer science and a PhD in communication and Information sciences from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Her research interests focus on computer science education in the 21st century.

She is currently a professor of information and computer science at Leeward Community College. Her background includes programming, networking, human-computer interaction and mobile applications design and development. She can be seen teaching programming and networking courses on cable TV across the state of Hawai‘i.
