The 4th edition of LATINITY (Latin American Women in Technology Conference) was held in September 6th and 7th, 2019, in San Jos\u00e9, Costa Rica. Organized by Latinas in Computing and Cooperativa Sul\u00e1 Bats\u00fa, this was the biggest gathering of women in technology in Latin America and officially declared as \u201cEvent of Public Interest\u201d<\/strong> by the President of Costa Rica. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This time, the IICA Instituto Interamericano de Cooperaci\u00f3n para la Agricultura<\/a>, located in Coronado, San Jos\u00e9, was selected as the venue to host more than 530 attendees from 15 countries, out of which 120 received full or partial scholarships to attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LATINITY 2019 Pura Vida was a 2-days conference with more than 80 activities related to Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Data Science, Digital Art, Fintech, Digital Rights, Cybersecurity, Health, Entrepreneurship, Professional Development and issues related to women in science and tech. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

…and a surprise celebration with the Big Band of Costa Rica!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the conference, we listened to the Minister of Science, Technology and Telecommunications and the Minister of Women\u2019s Condition of Costa Rica. We also listened to 4 indigenous women speak in their native language about their biodegradable technology, to one of the few Latina woman who has conducted research in both poles and also to a Brazilian woman who formed a community of afro descendent programmers to inspire the next generation of women of color.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LATINITY brings together Latin American women passionate about digital technologies. It\u2019s an event to exchange ideas, reflect on building new proposals and also have the opportunity to meet more Latin American women with the same interests. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
