Raquel Romano is a principal software engineer at Threadloom, a startup that connects people with shared hobbies through online forums. She was previously an engineering lead at the United States Digital Service, where she improved and modernized digital services for immigrants and for veterans. She spent 10 years as a software engineer at Google building machine learning, accessibility, and social impact products via Google.org. She co-founded Latinas in Computing and was recognized as one of CNET’s 20 Most Influential Latino/as in 2014. She earned her BA in Math from Harvard and her MS/PhD in Computer Science from MIT. Raquel is a strong advocate for those entering the tech industry through nontraditional paths.
